What Is the Roof Rebedding Process?
Re-bedding starts with the removal of damaged bedding from under the ridge caps and barge caps. The Roofers clean the area of debris and any residue that might interfere with bonding. A specially formulated mortar is then applied to the underside of each tile. When bedding is completed, the pointing goes over the top to seal it all in, which is colour matched to the rest of the roof. Once the new bedding cures, it forms a robust, long-lasting bond between the tiles and the roof structure.

Why Is Roof Rebedding Important for Roof Longevity?
Roof re-bedding reinforces the bond that holds roofing tiles in place and restores the roof’s protective barrier. Over time, environmental exposure weakens the original mortar. Without a secure bond, water may seep into the roof, causing mould, rot, and structural issues. Renewing the bedding not only extends the roof’s lifespan but also reduces the need for complete roof replacement, saving homeowners time and money.

How Does Roof Rebedding Prevent Roof Leaks?
It is important to note the early signs of a roof requiring re-bedding. These signs include visible cracks in the mortar, loose or misaligned tiles and water leakage inside the building. Homeowners might also notice increased repair costs or discomfort below the roof due to drafts or moisture. Early detection allows for timely intervention, preventing further deterioration and expensive repairs.
